It happened just after 10 a.m. near Bruton Smith Boulevard. Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew overhead the scene, where a tractor-trailer and two other cars were visible. One of the cars appeared to be wedged between the inner barrier wall and the truck.

MEDIC said two people had potentially life-threatening injuries.

According to state highway patrol, the southbound lanes of the highway were shut down immediately after the crash. Troopers planned to reopen some of the lanes, leaving the inside ones closed while they cleaned a fuel leak

Troopers said the leak was coming from the tractor-trailer. They’re treating it as a hazmat situation.
