Rebecca from Charlotte asks: Where is the safest place in your home from lightning?

Thanks for sending your question to Severe Weather Center 9. The best place to be in a lightning storm is simply inside. But while you are indoors, stay off the telephone and stay out of the shower until the storm has passed. It is also a good idea to stay away from your windows as thunderstorm winds can break windows.

You are also safe inside your car as long as you aren't touching anything metal. The metal pieces of your car may tranfer the electricity of a lightning bolt if one were to hit your car.
