USA Basketball To Move Offices To Glendale

Glendale, AZ -- (Sports Network) - USA Basketball, the governing body of international basketball in this country, announced Tuesday it will move its offices from Colorado Springs to Glendale, Arizona.USA Basketball is responsible for the selection and training of USA national teams that compete at the highest levels of international basketball competition. That includes the Olympic teams for both the men and women. Most recently, both senior national squads captured gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. "We are very excited to become part of Glendale's growing roster of elite sports properties and look forward to partnering with the City and Rightpath to make the USA Basketball campus an important destination for future basketball programs at all levels of the game," said USA Basketball outgoing president Val Ackerman, who led USA Basketball's relocation efforts. "The amenities which will be available at our headquarters and on the campus are distinctive and high-end, and will greatly expand our capacity to contribute to the overall growth of our sport." USA Basketball will be housed in a multi-use facility immediately adjacent to Jobing.com Arena, home of the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes, and University of Phoenix Stadium, home to the NFL's Arizona Cardinals.
According to a study by Elliot D. Pollack & Company, the project will result in an economic impact of more than $54 million annually to Glendale. "Once again, we are proud to present a project to our community that enhances Glendale's image as a sports and entertainment destination and creates economic opportunities for the region," stated Glendale city manager Ed Beasley. "USA Basketball is the premier basketball organization in our country and fits perfectly with the goals and image of our community."
