Charleston, IL -- (Sports Network) - Jake Byrne posted 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Eastern Illinois Panthers to a 64-61 win over the Samford Bulldogs in Ohio Valley Conference action.

Bobby Catchings, Gino Myers-Kyles and Jon'Tee Willhite all scored 10 points for Eastern Illinois (7-22, 6-14 OVC).

Josh Davis tallied 17 points in the loss for Samford (14-15, 10-10), which got 12 points apiece from Bryan Friday and Josh Bedwell.

Samford opened the game with a 12-2 run, but Eastern Illinois fought back to tie the score at 29-29 at intermission.

Over the final 20 minutes, the Panthers got the job done at the defensive end, limiting the Bulldogs to 38.5 percent shooting from the floor.

Eastern Illinois earned a 35-27 rebounding advantage in the clash and a 14-8 edge in points from the foul line.
