Saturday, March 8, 2008

(Sports Network) - Thanks to Bruce Price's 20-point, eight- assist performance, the sixth-seeded Tennessee State Tigers pulled off a shocking, 83-75 victory over the second-seeded Murray State Racers in semifinal-round action of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

Gerald Robinson added 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds for TSU (15-16), which will now face the top-seeded Austin Peay Governors in the title contest of the OVC Tournament. James Craft chipped in 10 points in just 19 minutes of work off the bench.

Ray George scored 25 points for Murray State (18-13), while Danero Thomas and Bruce Carter contributed 21 and 13 points, respectively, in the losing effort.

Although the Tigers posted a mediocre 41.9 percent shooting effort from the floor in the first half, the team went into the break with a solid, 35-28 lead.

Tennessee State held off a late charge by the Racers in the second stanza, using a 16-of-19 clip from the foul line to claim the eight-point victory.

The Tigers won the battle on the glass in the contest, outrebounding Murray State by a 36-29 margin.
