Albany, NY -- (Sports Network) - Rishawn Johnson scored 14 points in just 16 minutes of action, as he led the 10th-seeded Canisius Golden Griffins to a 64-59 victory over the seventh-seeded Iona Gaels in the first round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament. Bob Bevilacqua also posted 14 points for Canisius (6-24), which will now have the dubious task of taking on the second-seeded Rider Broncs in the quarterfinals Saturday night. Frank Turner posted 12 points and dished out six assists in the win for the Golden Griffs. The Gaels limited Canisius to a pathetic 29.0 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half and went into the break with a 35-26 advantage. The Golden Griffs stormed back in the second stanza, shooting a stellar 56.0 percent from the floor en route to the five-point win. The bench for Canisius tallied 22 points in the contest, while Iona's reserves posted just 13 points.
