Mobile, AL -- (Sports Network) - Courtney Lee scored 21 points to lead the third- seeded Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to an 84-70 victory over the sixth-seeded North Texas Mean Green in quarterfinal action of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at the Mitchell Center. Tyrone Brazelton added 17 points for WKU (25-6), which will now take on the second-seeded Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans in semifinal action on Monday night. Orlando Mendez-Valdez contributed 14 points, while A. J. Slaughter tallied 10 points. Josh White scored 15 points for North Texas (20-11), while Ben Bell and Justin Howerton chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively. Western Kentucky limited North Texas to a mere 37.5 percent shooting effort from the floor in the first half and went into the break with a 37-28 lead. In the second stanza, the Hilltoppers shot a sizzling 56.7 percent from the field and also made 5-of-9 attempts from long range, en route to the 14-point win. WKU connected on 10-of-19 three-point attempts in the contest, while North Texas made just 4-of-14 shots from long range.
