Atlantic City, NJ -- (Sports Network) - Marcus Johnson scored all of his team's eight points in overtime as the Dayton Flyers defeated the Saint Louis Billikens, 63-62, in first-round action of the Atlantic 10 Tournament at Boardwalk Hall. The Flyers (21-9) will next face top-seeded Xavier on Thursday in the quarterfinals. Johnson led Dayton with 16 points and fellow sophomore Mickey Perry added a career-high 11 points and Andres Sandoval scored 10. Danny Brown led the Billikens (16-15) with 24 points and Tommie Liddell scored 21. Kevin Lisch added 11. In overtime, Johnson was the only Dayton player to score as the teams traded leads. Brown scored his team's final four points and put the Billikens ahead, 62-61 with a three-point play. Johnson, though, scored on a runner in the lane to put Dayton back on top with 32 seconds remaining and Saint Louis could not answer. Dayton took early control in the first half and led by as many nine at the midway point. Saint Louis cut into the Flyers' lead to make it a two-point game, 24-22, with 5:22 remaining. The Flyers were able to regain command from the Billikens and led 34-25 at halftime. Sloppy play early in the second half by Dayton enabled Saint Louis to get to within 34-29, but Dayton got untracked to take a 47-37 lead with 7:30 remaining. The Billikens cut the lead to 55-52 with 1:14 left after two baskets by Liddell and Brown hit a three-pointer to tie the game with 51 seconds to play. Dayton's Brian Roberts was called for an offensive foul with 20 seconds left after making an apparent go-ahead basket and regulation ended with the teams tied 55-55. Saint Louis used a box-and-one defense to limit all-conference guard Brian Roberts to five points. Roberts entered the contest averaging 19 points per game this season.
