NCAA Game Summary - Bowling Green Vs. Toledo

(Sports Network) - Jonathan Amos netted 15 points and recorded five steals, as the eighth-seeded Toledo Rockets nipped the ninth-seeded Bowling Green Falcons, 52-48, in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Quicken Loans Arena.

Amos went 6-of-12 from the field for Toledo (11-18), which will face top-seeded Kent State in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Tyrone Kent registered 12 points and three steals, and Jerrah Young had 11 points and nine rebounds in the winning effort.

Otis Polk led the way for BGSU (13-17) with a game-high 17 points and six rebounds, while Chris Knight logged 11 points and nine boards.

In a first-half defensive struggle, the Rockets used a 6-1 advantage in free- throw points to take a 23-21 lead to the break.

Toledo shot just 36.0 percent from the field in the second stanza, but it made 11 free throws to secure the four-point victory.

Both teams were held under 40 percent shooting from the floor and they went a combined 2-of-25 from beyond the arc.
