NCAA Game Summary - Iowa State Vs. Texas A&M

Kansas City, MO -- (Sports Network) - Dominique Kirk and Donald Sloan had 12 points apiece to lead the sixth-seeded Texas A&M Aggies to a 60-47 victory over the 11th-seeded Iowa State Cyclones in the opening round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament. Brian Davis pitched in 10 points for Texas A&M (23-9), which will take on third-seeded Kansas State in the quarterfinal round on Friday. Sloan also added nine assists and nine rebounds, narrowly missing a triple-double. Craig Brackens posted 20 points and 12 rebounds in the loss for Iowa State (14-18), which got 14 points from Bryan Peterson. Unfortunately, the rest of the team combined for only 13 points. Iowa State shot a woeful 7-of-33 from the floor in the first half, and Texas A&M led 25-17 at intermission. The Aggies sealed the victory with a 15-6 advantage in points from the foul line over the final 20 minutes. Texas A&M finished the contest with a 30-14 edge in points in the paint and a 15-2 advantage in bench points. The Aggies had just one previous Big 12 Conference Tournament victory prior to Thursday's win, as they carried a 1-11 record into this year's event.
