NCAA Game Summary - Bradley At Tulsa

POSTED: 10:45 pm EDT April 4, 2008

(Sports Network) - Rod Earls scored 14 points -- including the go- ahead three-pointer in the waning minutes -- and grabbed eight rebounds as Tulsa won the inaugural College Basketball Invitational with a 70-64 win over Bradley at the Reynolds Center in the third and deciding game of the championship series.

Ben Uzoh scored 17 for the Golden Hurricane (25-14), while Calvin Walls added 14 and six rebounds. Jerome Jordan dominated the paint, posting 11 points, 12 boards and eight blocked shots.

Theron Wilson had 17 points and eight boards for the Braves (21-17), while Andrew Warren contributed 14 points. Daniel Ruffin added 10 points, but Bradley was held to 29.3 percent shooting after halftime as Tulsa rallied for the win.

The teams held serve at home in the series, as Tulsa won the first contest, 73-68, on Monday and the Braves retaliated with an 83-74 win Wednesday in Peoria.

Wilson scored 11 points in the opening session, and the Braves held Tulsa to 11-of-32 shooting as Bradley opened up a 34-28 halftime lead.

Tulsa opened the second half with a 14-5 spurt to take a 42-39 lead, but the teams traded the lead back-and-forth for the rest of the half, leaving the game tied, 57-57, inside of 3 1/2 minutes to play.

Bradley fought to take a 59-57 lead, but Ray Reese found Earls for a three from the right wing that gave the Hurricane a one-point edge with 2:24 to play. After a defensive stop, Uzoh made 1-of-2 at the free-throw line for a two-point cushion with less than two minutes left.

The teams traded missed shots, and after Jeremy Crouch misfired on a high bank shot, Earls drained a pair from the charity stripe to give Tulsa a 63-59 lead with 48.5 ticks to play.

Ruffin couldn't connect on an open three on Bradley's next trip down the court, and Tulsa sealed the CBI title at the free throw line in the final 30 seconds.
