Murray State Extends Kennedy

(Sports Network) - Murray State University and head men's basketball coach Billy Kennedy agreed to a contract extension through the 2011-12 season on Tuesday.

Last season, Kennedy's second as Racers head coach, MSU finished 18-13 overall and placed second in the Ohio Valley Conference (13-7). It was the program's 21st consecutive winning season.

Murray State failed to reach the conference final, losing to Tennessee State, 83-75 in the semis, but the team led the OVC in field goal percentage (.498), field goal defense (.412), three-point percentage (.408) and three-point defense (.321).

Kennedy recorded a 16-14 overall mark in 2006-07 in his first season at the Racer helm.
