Tucson, AZ -- Chris Jordan tallied 17 points to lead the Sam Houston State Bearkats past the UCF Golden Knights, 68-63, in the third-place game of the Fiesta Bowl Classic. Ryan Bright just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Aaron Wade added 13 points in the win for the Bearkats (7-3). UCF (5-4) dropped its second straight game and has lost four of its last five outings despite getting a stellar performance from Justin Rose against Sam Houston State. Rose finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Josh Peppers was the only other Golden Knight in double figures with 14 points. UCF shot 55 percent from the field in the first half, compared to 44.4 percent for the Bearkats, but Sam Houston State nonetheless took a 30-24 lead into the break. The Bearkats increased their field-goal shooting to 54.2 percent in the second stanza, and also connected on 11-of-19 free-throw attempts, to come away with the five-point win. The victory, in what was the first-ever meeting between the schools on the hardwood, snapped a two-game losing streak for Sam Houston State.
