Tempe, AZ -- (Sports Network) - James Harden scored 16 points and dished out seven assists to lead Arizona State to a 65-51 win over Southern Illinois in the second round of the NIT.

Jeff Pendergraph tallied 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocked shots for the Sun Devils (21-12), who will face either Creighton or Florida in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Those two teams play Friday in Gainesville.

Ty Abbott had 11 points and six boards in the victory.

Randal Falker scored 19 and had 13 rebounds for the Salukis (18-15), who struggled by shooting 29.3 percent from the field. Matt Shaw scored 12 and Joshua Bone 10 for Southern Illinois.

The Sun Devils used a 14-2 run bridging the end of the first half into the early portion of the second to expand their lead to 39-25. Abbott's layup capped the spurt with under 16 minutes left and the Salukis didn't threaten the rest of the way.

Incredibly, Southern Illinois scored the game's first seven points before Harden put in a layup after more than three minutes expired. The Sun Devils went ahead 13-12 following a Harden three-pointer.

Arizona State finished 10-of-27 from beyond the arc, compared to 5-of-19 for Southern Illinois.
