NCAA Game Summary - Charleston Southern At Notre Dame

Chris Quinn scored a team-high 17 points to lead 21st-ranked Notre Dame to a 54-38 win over Charleston Southern at the Joyce Center.

Chris Thomas contributed 15 points, six assists and four steals for the Irish (3-0), who made just 38 percent of their shots from the field.

Kurtis Rice finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Buccaneers (1-2), who have lost two of three to open the season.

Dennis Latimore added six points and seven rebounds for Notre Dame, which overcame a two-point deficit early in the second half with a 19-2 run. His three-pointer capped the burst and put his team ahead 43-29 with 6:51 to play.

Thomas delivered six of the points during the decisive rally.

Charleston Southern cut its deficit to 43-33 on a layup by Rice with 5:29 to go, but no closer.

Thomas Harrison's three-pointer, with 7:54 remaining in first half, put the Buccaneers ahead 15-8.

The Irish responded with 10 straight points. A layup by Thomas with 5:01 left in the first put them ahead 18-15.

Quinn hit a three-pointer, with 2:18 remaining in the first half to put them ahead 21-20.

But the Buccaneers forced a 22-22 tie at halftime, then took a 26-24 advantage on a three-pointer by Rice early in the second half.

Game Notes:

Harrison scored nine points for the Buccaneers, who were held 34-32 rebounding advantage...Notre Dame won the first-ever meeting between the teams.
