NCAA Game Summary - Chattanooga At Elon

Elon, NC -- (Sports Network) - Nicchaeus Doaks nailed a go-ahead three-pointer with 30.2 seconds remaining, as the Chattanooga Mocs nipped the Elon Phoenix, 57-56, in Southern Conference action at Alumni Gym. Doaks finished the game with 13 points, as the Mocs (18-12, 13-7 SoCon) captured a share of the North Division title and earned the second seed in the upcoming league tournament. Marcus Watts led Chattanooga with 15 points, while Stephen McDowell chipped in with 11 points. Montell Watson headed the charge for Elon (11-18, 9-11) with 15 points. Brett James posted 11 points, and Adam Constantine notched a double-double with 10 points and the same amount of rebounds. Elon made just 27.6 percent of its field goals in the opening frame and it trailed 24-20 at the intermission. Trailing 57-56 in the closing moments, Elon's James missed an 18-foot jumper as time expired and Chattanooga escaped with the one-point win. The Mocs sank 6-of-17 three-pointers in the game, while Elon went just 2-of-23 from downtown.
