NCAA Game Summary - Colorado At Nebraska

Sunday, March 9, 2008

(Sports Network) - Aleks Maric scored a game-high 17 points as he led the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 68-49 win over the Colorado Buffaloes in Big 12 Conference play at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Playing in his final regular-season home game for the Huskers (18-11, 7-9 Big 12), Maric also cleared 16 rebounds, handed out a career-high six assists, picked up three steals and posted a pair of blocked shots, all without a single turnover. Paul Velander and Steve Harley contributed 16 and 14 points, respectively, as the squad snapped a two-game slide.

The Buffs (11-19, 3-13), losers of two in a row and six of the last seven outings, were paced by Javon Coney with 15 points in a mere 10 minutes off the bench. Richard Roby added 12 points and six rebounds before fouling out, while Marcus Hall accounted for 11 points and seven boards in the setback.

Nebraska scored the first points of the day and never looked back, limiting the Buffs to a mere five field goals in the opening frame to take a 36-14 lead at the break.

In the second half the Cornhuskers remained out of reach by knocking down 52 percent from the floor in the 19-point win.

Colorado had as many turnovers (15) as field goals and finished the contest shooting only 6-of-20 from three-point range.
