Monday, November 12, 2007

(Sports Network) - John Baumann scored 21 points to lead the Columbia Lions to a 47-41 win over the Delaware State Hornets in first round action of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Value City Arena.

The Lions received plenty of support from Patrick Foley and Joe Bova, who added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Hornets were led by Marcus Neal who scored just 10 points in the loss.

Columbia overcame a poor shooting effort in the first half to take a 25-19 lead at the break.

The Lions continued to struggle in the second stanza, shooting just 29 percent from the floor, but still managed to hold on for the six-point win.

With the win Columbia advances to Tuesday night's second round contest against Ohio State.
