NCAA Game Summary - Delaware State At Southern California

Los Angeles, CA -- (Sports Network) - Dwight Lewis led five USC players in double figures with 18 points and the 25th-ranked Trojans smacked Delaware State, 83-54, at the Galen Center. Davon Jefferson had 17 points and seven rebounds, and fellow freshman O.J. Mayo added 12 points and four assists for Southern Cal (7-3), which rebounded from back-to-back losses to Top 10 powers Kansas and Memphis. Angelo Johnson contribued 11 points and the Trojans shot 68 percent (32- for-47) from the floor on its way to a win that was clinched by the early minutes of the second half. Roy Bright scored a game-high 22 points to lead Delaware State (3-6), but the overmatched Hornets hit just 21-of-55 field goals (38 percent) and fell for the sixth time in their last seven outings. USC raced out to an 18-4 lead in the opening nine minutes. But Delaware State, trailing 31-13 after a Dwight Lewis layup with 4:40 to go in the half, closed on a 13-8 run to pull within 39-26 at the break. The Trojans then put the Hornets away by scoring the first 12 points of the final 20 minutes to take a commanding 51-29 lead. The onslaught continued, as SC's lead ballooned to 32 when Mayo scored on the break to make it 72-38 with 6:45 to go.Game Notes:USC hit 10 of its 15 three-point attempts, led by Johnson (3-for-4) and Daniel Hackett (3-for-5), nine points on the night)...The Trojans had 24 assists on their 32 made field goals...It was the first-ever meeting between the schools.
