Friday, February 29, 2008

(Sports Network) - In a Sun Belt Conference battle at the Jack Stephens Center, Steven Moore recorded a game-high 23 points to lead the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans over the Denver Pioneers, 66-55.

UALR (18-10, 10-7 SBC) won its third consecutive contest, as Mike Smith posted 10 points and five rebounds for the victors.

Denver (11-17, 7-10) dropped its fifth straight game, as Adam Tanner lead the Pioneers with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Nigel Peter-Denman didn't miss a shot while logging 14 points off the bench, and Rob Lewis chipped in with 10 points in a losing cause.

The Trojans were terrific from the field in the first half, hitting 15-of-25 from the floor in jumping out to a 37-30 halftime lead.

The lead would increase to 21 points midway through the final period, as the Pioneers could only manage nine second half field goals in the 11-point setback.

Denver hit 51.2 percent from the floor, but was out-rebound by 10 boards and went long stretches without netting a field goal.
