NCAA Game Summary - Evansville At Eastern Illinois

Saturday, February 23, 2008

(Sports Network) - Jason Holsinger scored a game-high 14 points, as the Evansville Purple Aces earned a 63-55 non-conference victory over the Eastern Illinois Panthers at Lantz Arena.

Evansville (9-18) snaps its 10-game road losing streak, as Shy Ely chipped in with 13 points, and Kavon Lacey finished with 10.

EIU (5-22) has now lost five of six. Jake Byrne tallied 11 points, and Ousmane Cisse added 10 in a losing effort. Jon Tee Willhite finished with nine points and 10 assists.

Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half, though it was EIU taking a 24-21 lead into the break.

Evansville heated up in the second stanza, shooting 65 percent from the floor while outscoring the Panthers, 13-2 at the foul line.

The game featured eight ties and 15 lead changes, but in the end it was the Purple Aces' ability to get to the free-throw line more often that proved to be the difference.
