Miami, FL -- (Sports Network) - A.J. Slaughter scored 12 points off the bench to lead the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to a 69-54 victory over the Florida International Golden Panthers in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at Pharmed Arena.

D.J. Magley added 10 points in the win for Western Kentucky (23-6, 15-2 SBC).

Nikola Gacesa tallied 13 points to lead FIU (9-18, 6-11), while Alex Galindo chipped in 10 in the losing effort.

WKU held FIU to a mere 30.4 percent from the field during the first period, opening a 35-22 halftime lead.

The Hilltoppers shot 50.0 percent from the floor during the second frame en route to the 15-point victory.

The Golden Panthers shot just 34.0 percent from the field, including 2-of-9 from long range, in the loss.
