Charlotte, NC -- (Sports Network) - Lamont Mack scored 17 points to lead the Charlotte 49ers to a 77-61 victory over the George Washington Colonials in Atlantic 10 Conference play. An'Juan Wilderness tallied 16 points for Charlotte (17-12, 8-7 A-10), which got 15 points from Ian Andersen. Leemire Goldwire added 13 points for the 49ers. Rob Diggs posted 16 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for George Washington (9-16, 5-10). Wynton Witherspoon scored 14 points for the Colonials, and Noel Wilmore pitched in 13 points. Charlotte led 29-25 at intermission after limiting George Washington to 27.8 percent shooting from the floor in the first half. Over the final 20 minutes, the 49ers hit 54.5 percent of their own shots to seal the victory. Charlotte finished the game with a 17-4 edge in fast break points. Hours before the start of the game, George Washington's Maureece Rice was dismissed from the team for violating team rules. Rice, who was the most outstanding player of the A-10 Tournament a year ago, hadn't been nearly as effective as expected this season prior to the dismissal.
