NCAA Game Summary - High Point At Towson

Saturday, February 23, 2008

(Sports Network) - C.C. Williams converted a pair of free throws with 3.7 seconds remaining, lifting the Towson Tigers to a thrilling 73-72 win over the High Point Panthers in a BracketBuster event.

Williams went a perfect 5-of-5 at the foul line and he finished with 19 points and six assists, as Towson (11-16) won for the second time in three outings. Jonathan Pease netted 16 points, and Junior Hairston tallied 15 of his own in the victory.

Arizona Reid posted a game-best 23 points to pace High Point (14-13), which dropped its third consecutive decision. Cruz Daniels and Eugene Harris each scored 18 points in the setback, while Mike Jefferson contributed 10 points and six assists.

Towson drained 58.6 percent of its shots from the field and 7-of-14 from three- point land in the first half, opening a 43-32 lead at the break.

High Point fought back in the second half, but the Tigers closed out the game with a 10-2 run, capped by Williams' game-winning free throws. The Panthers had a chance to win the contest, but Reid's three-point attempt in the closing moments was off the mark.

Both teams had success from beyond the arc, as Towson went 10-of-21 and High Point 10-of-22.
