GAME NOTES: Admission to the NCAA Tournament is on the line tonight in Tulsa, as the IUPUI Jaguars try to shoot down the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in the title game of the 24th annual Summit League Basketball Tournament at the John Q. Hammons Arena. Formerly known as the Mid-Continent Conference, top-seeded Oral Roberts has been the league's top performer the last two seasons with tournament titles in both 2006 and 2007. The Golden Eagles made it to their third straight championship game by defeating Centenary (84-56) and IPFW (58-42) in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, respectively. As for second- seeded IUPUI, a team that played in the title game three straight years (2002-04) but won only in 2003, it first slipped by UMKC on Saturday by a score of 69-65 and then defeated Oakland last night, 80-65. With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, Oral Roberts holds a 13-10 advantage over the Jaguars entering this meeting. However, IUPUI won the most recent affair just a few weeks ago with a 69-66 decision at home.

George Hill played a huge all-around game for the Jaguars on Monday night as he tallied 32 points, ripped down 13 rebounds and handed out five assists in the win over Oakland in the semifinals of the tournament. The only other double-digit scorer for IUPUI was Jon Avery who came off the bench to offer up 14 points as the team shot 53.7 percent from the field and 9-of-19 beyond the arc, although their 13-of-21 effort at the charity stripe was rather suspect. The 2008 Summit League Player of the Tear, Hill shot a mere 4-of-12 from the field in the first game of the tournament on Saturday, with is unusual considering he's made 55.4 percent of his attempts from the floor this year and is a 45.0 percent shooter from three-point range as well. A 21.4 ppg scorer in 2007-08, Hill also leads the program in rebounding (6.8 rpg), assists (135) and steals (55).

Oral Roberts came out extremely flat in the first half of Monday's meeting with IPFW, scoring a mere 17 points on 8-of-28 shooting from the field. The team missed all nine opportunities beyond the arc in the period as the opposition raced out to a 7-0 lead. However, the second half was a completely different story as the Golden Eagles turned the tables and held IPFW to just seven field goals in order to bring home the win. Shawn King registered a double-double for the group with 10 points and a team-best 11 rebounds, while Robert Jarvis came off the bench and dropped in 19 points. Marcus Lewis registered 12 points and seven boards as well. Jarvis, the team's leading scorer this season with his 16.1 ppg, is actually a slightly better shooter from three-point range (.418) than he is the field overall (.417). Moses Ehambe checks in with 11.3 ppg as the only other double-digit scorer for the group, but his 39.5 percent shooting from the floor it nothing to write home about. Although, the Oral Roberts defense has been notable, limiting teams to just 39.7 percent success from the field and 61.3 ppg this season.

Hill is a one-man wrecking crew for IUPUI, but trying to carry the Jaguars against a team like Oral Roberts is asking a lot of the star. If no one else steps up for the Jags then the defense for the Golden Eagles could easily swallow them up and move on to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year.

Predicted Outcome

Oral Roberts 67, IUPUI 60
