Ehambe Helps Oral Roberts Grab Summit League Crown

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

(Sports Network) - Moses Ehambe knocked down seven three-pointers en route to a game-high 25 points as Oral Roberts punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a 71-64 victory over IUPUI in the Summit League final.

Robert Jarvis scored 16 points and Shawn King added 10 with eight rebounds for the Golden Eagles (24-8), who have won three games in succession and took home the conference title for the third year in a row.

George Hill had 24 points for the Jaguars (26-7), whose five-game win streak came to a crashing halt. Austin Montgomery chipped in with 16 points and Gary Patterson poured in 14.

The Golden Eagles led just 31-27 at the half, thanks to a feisty Jaguar squad which erased a 21-6 deficit. Oral Roberts stretched their advantage to 40-31 early in the second half before a 21-9 run gave the Jags a 52-49 edge with 7:24 to play.

Ehambe drained a three to draw Oral Roberts even, and the Golden Eagles continued to separate themselves until King nailed a pair from the line for a 66-59 lead with 1:20 remaining put the game away.

Game Notes

ORU leads the all-time series 14-10...Marcus Lewis and Adam Liberty each dished out four assists for the Golden Eagles, who shot 56.5 percent (13- of-23) from the floor in the second half.
