Albany, NY -- (Sports Network) - Jason Thompson scored 32 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to lead the second-seeded Rider Broncs to a 76-71 victory over the sixth-seeded Marist Red Foxes in semifinal round action of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament at the Times Union Center. Harris Mansell added 16 points for Rider (23-9), while Kamron Warner tallied 10 points in the win. Jay Gavin netted 21 points for Marist (18-14), while Ryan Schneider and Louie McCroskey contributed 18 and 16 points, respectively. The Red Foxes limited Rider to a mere 36.4 percent shooting effort from the floor in the first half and went into the break with a 39-32 lead. However, the Broncs stormed back in the second stanza, shooting a sizzling 64.0 percent from the floor, while also connecting on 10-of-11 free throw attempts, en route to the five-point win. Rider dominated play in the paint, outscoring Marist by a 42-16 margin. The Broncs will now take on the top-seeded Siena Saints in the MAAC Championship on Monday night.
