Norfolk State Dubs Evans Basketball Coach

Friday, February 1, 2008

(Sports Network) - Norfolk State removed the interim tag from Anthony Evans' title, and named him men's basketball coach, athletic director Marty Miller announced.

The announcement came Thursday, as Evans and the school agreed to a three-year contract through the 2010-11 season.

"Coach Evans' performance validates the confidence I had in his ability when I appointed him interim head coach," Miller said. "He has been an excellent leader, teacher and recruiter, and he has the knowledge and experience to take the men's basketball program to a higher level."

Norfolk State is currently 9-9 this season, with a 5-1 record in the Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference under Evans -- who was an assistant coach from 2003-06.
