Philadelphia, PA -- (Sports Network) - Gerald Colds scored a game-high 14 points off the bench as the Drexel Dragons defeated the Colonials of Robert Morris, 56-40, during the championship round of the 2007 Philly Hoop Group Classic. Also scoring in double figures for the Dragons (4-1) was Tramayne Hawthorne who dropped in 11 points, adding five rebounds and five assists as well. Frank Elegar and Randy Oveneke both registered just five points, but made up for it with 10 and nine rebounds, respectively. The Colonials (2-2) failed to put a single player in double digits, with A.J. Jackson and Mezie Nwigwe coming closest with seven points apiece in the losing effort. Not only did Drexel shoot an impressive 57.1 percent from the field and 5-of-8 beyond the arc in the first half, the squad also held Robert Morris to a mere six field goals en route to a 32-14 advantage at the break. In the second half the Dragons cooled to just 8-of-24 from the floor, but with the Colonials making only 1-of-8 behind the three-point line in the frame it was still rather easy for Drexel to come away with the 16-point victory. The Dragons captured the double-digit win despite shooting just 9-of-23 at the charity stripe and turning the ball over 26 times on the afternoon. With the win the Dragons will now take on Loyola Maryland in the Liberty Bracket of the tournament on Saturday afternoon, while Robert Morris sets up against Howard.
