NCAA Game Summary - South Florida At Rutgers

POSTED: 12:10 am EST March 2, 2008

(Sports Network) - Dominique Jones hit a go-ahead bucket with 32.5 seconds left, as the South Florida Bulls downed the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 54-52, in Big East action at Louis Brown Athletic Center.

Jones finished with 17 points and six boards for USF (12-17, 3-13 BE), which snapped a three-game losing skid. Jesus Verdejo posted 16 points in the win, while Kentrell Gransberry notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Anthony Farmer recorded a contest-high 19 points for the Knights (10-20, 2-15), who dropped their ninth straight decision.

The Bulls knocked down 6-of-10 shots from beyond the arc in the first frame and they owned a 30-23 advantage at the half.

Rutgers fought back in the second half and tied the game at 52-52 before Jones hit what would be game-winning bucket with 32.5 seconds left. Rutgers had a chance to win the contest, but a long three-point attempt by Mike Coburn at the buzzer was off the mark and USF escaped with the two-point victory.
