Cape Girardeau, MO -- (Sports Network) - In an Ohio Valley Conference bout at the Show Me Center, Travis Peterson led the Bulldogs with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists as Samford upended the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks, 68-62. The victory extended Samford's (14-14, 10-9 OVC) winning streak to three games, as Trey Montgomery netted 12 points, while Josh Bedwell and Bryan Friday deposited 11 and 10 points, respectively. SEMO (12-18, 7-12) has now dropped seven consecutive games, as Jaycen Herring recorded a game-high 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. While no other Redhawk tallied double-digits, Michael Rembert pulled down a game-high nine caroms. The Redhawks sunk just nine first half field goals, but connected on all six free throw attempts to trail just 29-25 at the break. Both squads stepped up offensively in the final 20 minutes, but the Bulldogs' 8-of-16 performance from the behind the arc was enough to pull away for the six-point conquest. Southeast Missouri State's eight-rebound advantage could not overcome 18 turnovers and 12 Samford three-pointers.
