NCAA Game Summary - Georgia Southern At Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi, TX -- Elton Nesbitt posted a game-high 25
points in leading the Eagles of Georgia Southern to a 70-57 victory over the
Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the title game of the Islander
Classic from Memorial Coliseum. Terry Williams added 12 points for the Eagles (7-3) who won their third
straight game and the fourth in the last five outings. The Islanders (6-5) were paced by Aaron White who came off the bench to tally
15 points in 29 minutes. Although he made just 3-of-11 shots from behind the
three-point line, Brian Evans finished with 12 points and six assists. Thomas
Bailey dropped in 11 points while Corey Lamkin (1-of-9 shooting from the
field) contributed with a game-high 14 rebounds as the team had its two-game
win streak snapped. Corpus Christi shot the ball well from the field in the first half, making
45.8 percent of its attempts, and converted all 10 free-throw attempts, but
the Islanders still trailed by a score of 39-34. In the second half the home team made a mere seven field goals (24.1 percent),
as the Eagles soared to the 13-point win. Georgia Southern won the battle of the boards, 42-33, and managed to overcome
24 turnovers by forcing the same number of miscues by Texas A&M C.C. and
turning them into 31 points.
