NCAA Game Summary - Western Carolina At Appalachian State

Boone, NC -- (Sports Network) - Kellen Brand scored a team-high 18 points off the bench, as the Appalachian State Mountaineers clinched their second straight Southern Conference North Division title with a 74-63 win over the Western Carolina Catamounts. Fellow reserve Donald Sims scored 15 points for ASU (18-12, 13-7 SoCon), and Doug McLaughlin-Williams finished with 10. Jeremy Clayton pulled down a game- high 13 rebounds to go along with his eight points. Jake Robinson paced WCU (10-19, 6-13) with 19 points, while Negus McKenna scored 14, and Eric Wilson finished with 10. The Mountaineers shot an impressive 59.1 percent from the floor in the first half, and closed the period with an 11-0 run to take a 38-28 halftime lead. ASU turned up the defense in the second stanza, holding the Catamounts to 36.4 percent shooting from the floor. The Mountaineers were efficient from long range, connecting on 10-of-20 three- pointers for the game.
