NCAA Game Summary - Western Illinois At UCLA

(Sports Network) - Kevin Love led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points on a perfect 5-for-5 effort from the floor, as eighth-ranked UCLA routed Western Illinois, 77-52, at Pauley Pavilion.

Darren Collison had 12 points for UCLA (10-1), which has won three straight after a 63-61 setback against Texas. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute chipped in 10 points and five boards, while Russell Westbrook finished with eight points and seven assists.

David Jackson and Jerryck Owens-Murrey each contributed 10 points for the Leathernecks (3-7). David DuBois grabbed a team-high seven boards in defeat.

Early on, Western Illinois cut the deficit to 4-3 on a trey from Josh Rivers, but UCLA opened a 14-5 cushion with a 10-2 run. Josh Shipp kicked off the spurt with a pair of free throws and closed it by knocking down a trey.

Mbah a Moute hit a jumper to push the Bruins advantage to 30-11 with 6:28 left in the first half.

UCLA went into the break leading by a comfortable 23-point margin, 42-19.

The Bruins shot 61.9 percent (13-of-21), including 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from beyond the arc in first half to help break the game open. Conversely, Western Illinois converted only 33.3 percent (9-of-27) of its shots in the opening 20 minutes.

In the second half, ULCA extended its lead to 28, 57-29, and coasted to the finish.

Game Notes:

Only once this season have the Bruins not won a game by double figures, a 68-63 triumph over Michigan State...Love had seven rebounds...The Leathernecks committed 20 turnovers, which UCLA turned into 26 points...UCLA made 52.9 percent of its shots compared to Western Illinois, which shot 37 percent from the floor...Each team had 30 rebounds.
