Kalamazoo, MI -- (Sports Network) - David Kool came off the bench to score a team- best 19 points and lead the Western Michigan Broncos to a 57-53 win over the Ball State Cardinals in Mid-American Conference action at University Arena. Also scoring in double figures for the Broncos (19-11, 12-4) as they won for the sixth time in the last seven games, was Joe Reitz with 14 points in the regular-season finale. The Cardinals (6-23, 5-11), losers of four of the last five, were paced by Anthony Newell with 19 points, followed by Malik Perry who tallied 10 points and cleared a game-high seven rebounds. BSU came out and shot an impressive 52.4 percent from the field in the first half, yet the team found itself down by a basket at the break, 34-32. In the second half WMU made a total of just six field goals and converted a mere 11-of-20 at the free-throw line, yet still played well enough to pick up the four-point home win. The Broncos, who turned the ball over just eight times, outscored the visitors at the charity stripe, 16-10.
