GAME NOTES: Coming close to claiming the regular-season title in the Mountain West Conference, the BYU Cougars take another step in that direction tonight as they host the Wyoming Cowboys at the Marriott Center. The Cougars have been unbeatable in Provo for quite some time now and sport the nation's longest home winning streak at a school-record 46 in a row. With their 23-6 mark coming into action tonight, this BYU group is well aware that only two other teams in school history have started even better through 29 games. But getting the focus back on the here and now, BYU has won two straight and 11 of the last 12 outings following a 76-57 defeat of Air Force on Saturday in this building. The victory pushed the Cougars to 12-2 in league play, which means they occupy first place in the MWC standings. As for the Cowboys, they've managed to follow a three-game slide with back-to-back triumphs over the likes of Colorado State and Utah, which puts the team at 5-10 in league play. With respect to the all- time series between these two schools on the hardwood, the Cougars are now ahead by a count of 98-69 after taking out the Pokes in Laramie by a score of 73-63 last month.

Wyoming's Brad Jones made good on all 10 of his free-throw attempts on Saturday, leading to his 20 points and the team's win over Utah at home in Laramie. Brandon Ewing tacked on 14 points and five assists, but he was the guilty one who missed the only free-throw of the game for the Pokes, the team making an incredible 26-of-27 at the stripe. Tyson Johnson and Joseph Taylor added 12 points and six rebounds apiece as well. Ewing continues to lead the team in both scoring and assists this season with 16.7 points per game and a total of 120 dishes through 28 games. Jones has been Ewing's partner in crime the entire way with his 12.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 101 assists, numbers which could easily make him the team's most valuable player in 2007-08. However, relying on the duo so much has taken some of the wind out of the sails for the Cowboys because their scoring average against the rest of the conference in the second half of the season has dipped to 66.9 ppg.

The Cougars dialed up some defense in their meeting with Air Force over the weekend, limiting the Falcons to just 31.5 percent shooting from the field and 1-of-12 beyond the arc. For BYU, the scoring burst came from Trent Plaisted who tallied 20 points, followed by Jonathan Tavernari with 12 points. Lee Cummard and Jimmer Fredette tacked on 10 points apiece as the squad shot and impressive 11-of-20 out on the perimeter. Although they have gotten there by two different means, Plaisted and Cummard have scored the identical number of points in the same number of games this season, leading to 15.9 ppg. Plaisted has done it by converting 115 shots at the free-throw line, even though that still means he's making just 54.2 percent at the stripe. In the case of Cummard, he's converted 45.3 percent behind the three-point line. Jonathan Tavernari chips in 13.0 ppg, responsible for more three-point baskets (72) than anyone else on the roster.

There were a number of times this season that BYU's dominance at home should have come to an end, but since the Cougars have made it this far, there's really no reason to pick against them now with so much on the line.

Predicted Outcome

BYU 72, Wyoming 63
