(Sports Network) - Trent Plaisted posted a double-double, netting 23 points, while collecting 11 rebounds, as he led the BYU Cougars to convincing, 78-61 victory over the Wyoming Cowboys in Mountain West Conference action at the Marriott Center.

Jonathan Tavernari added 18 points for BYU (24-6, 13-2 MWC), which clinched the Mountain West Conference regular-season championship. Sam Burgess tallied 13 points for the Cougars, while Lee Cummard chipped in 12 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Tyson Johnson scored 20 points and collected nine rebounds for Wyoming (12-17, 5-11), while Brandon Ewing also posted 20 points in the losing effort.

The Cougars held Wyoming to a mere 37.5 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half and went into the break with a commanding, 38-27 lead.

BYU continued its strong offensive display, shooting 50.0 percent from the floor in the second stanza, en route to the 17-point victory.

The Cougars connected on 9-of-21 attempts from behind the arc, while Wyoming made just 4-of-14 shots from long range.

BYU became the first team in the MWC to claim back-to-back regular-season titles in the league's nine-year existence.

It was also the first time since the 1979 and 1980 campaigns that a BYU team won two straight conference championships.
