NCAA Game Summary - Kansas State At Fresno State

POSTED: 8:38 pm EST November 24, 2007

(Sports Network) - Tom Brandstater completed 23-of-29 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Fresno State Bulldogs to a 45-29 non- conference win over the Kansas State Wildcats.

Marlon Moore paced the Fresno State (7-4) receiving corps with 134 yards and two TDs on nine catches. Leading rusher Ryan Mathews was slowed by a sprained ankle, which opened the door for Anthony Harding to step in and rush for 115 yards and a touchdown. Lonyae Miller also had a big day, with 91 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

Josh Freeman threw for 256 yards and two TDs for Kansas State (5-7). As usual, most of his passes went to Jordy Nelson, who finished with 15 catches for 165 yards and a touchdown.

The Wildcats drove 80 yards on their opening possession, with James Johnson breaking loose for a 67-yard touchdown run on the fifth play from scrimmage.

Fresno State kicker Clint Stitser made it a 7-3 game with a 46-yard field goal at the 5:40 mark of the first quarter.

But Kansas State answered with another long touchdown run, this one covering 45 yards by Leon Patton.

Fresno State would take over from there, as Brandstater found Moore for a 34- yard touchdown pass one minute later.

The Bulldogs added a pair of touchdown runs in the second quarter; the first a one-yard sneak by Brandstater and the second, a two-yard run by Mathews.

Brandstater expanded the Bulldogs' lead to 31-14 with a five-yard touchdown pass to Moore in the final minute of the first half.

But the Wildcats got the ball back and put together a seven-play, 80-yard drive in 1:06, capped off by Freeman's three-yard touchdown pass to Nelson just before the half.

Miller gave the Bulldogs a 38-21 lead on a four-yard touchdown run at the 10- minute mark of the third quarter, punctuating a 12-play, 91-yard drive to start the second half.

Fresno State padded its lead to 45-21 with 2:36 to play in the third, thanks to an eight-yard touchdown run by Harding that capped off an 11-play, 71-yard drive.

Kansas State could muster only one more touchdown, on a nine-yard pass from Freeman to Ernie Pierce in the final two minutes of regulation.

The Wildcats had no answer for the Fresno State offense, which racked up 30 first downs and 549 total yards.
