NCAA Game Summary - Utah State At Idaho

Moscow, ID -- (Sports Network) - Leon Jackson threw for a touchdown and ran for two more, as the Utah State Aggies collected a hard-fought, 24-19 victory over the Idaho Vandals in a Western Athletic Conference battle. Jackson threw for 118 yards for Utah State (2-10, 2-6 WAC), while Kevin Robinson led the team with seven receptions for 86 yards and one score. Robinson set a new school record with 178 career receptions, passing Kevin Curtis, who grabbed 174 catches in his career at Utah State. Brian Flowers led Idaho (1-11, 0-8) with 127 rushing yards and one touchdown in the loss. Nathan Enderle threw for 191 yards in the contest, and also tossed one touchdown, but finished with three interceptions. Midway through the first quarter Jackson plunged into the end zone on a one- yard run, giving the Aggies a 7-0 lead. A one-yard touchdown run by Flowers late in the opening frame evened the score at 7-7. Idaho capped off a 14-play, 55-yard drive with a 21-yard field goal by Tino Amancio. With less than two minutes remaining in the first half Jackson hit Robinson with a four-yard touchdown pass, giving the Aggies a 14-10 lead. As time expired in the second stanza Peter Caldwell nailed a 32-yard field goal, pushing USU's lead to 17-10 as the two teams went into the break. Early in the third quarter Jackson crossed the goal line on a one-yard run, extending the Aggies lead to 24-10. Late in the third frame Amancio connected on a 36-yard field goal, cutting Idaho's deficit to 24-13. Midway through the final quarter Idaho found the end zone on a 14-yard scoring strike from Enderle to Lee Smith. The Vandals two-point conversion failed, leaving the score at 24-19. The Aggies were able to hold on to the victory and for the first time since 2003 Utah State has won two consecutive games. It was also the first time Utah State has won two straight road games since 1999.
