NCAA Game Summary - Tulane At Texas-El Paso

El Paso, TX -- (Sports Network) - Trevor Vittatoe threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns to lead t he Texas-El Paso Miners to a 24-21 victory over the Tulane Green Wave in Conference USA action. Donald Buckram ran for 107 yards for Texas-El Paso (3-3, 3-0 C-USA), which remained perfect in league play. Andre Anderson racked up a career-high 255 rushing yards on 29 carries in the loss for Tulane (2-4, 1-1). The Miners held the Green Wave scoreless in the second half and won the game on a 68-yard touchdown pass from Vittatoe to Jeff Moturi with 4:22 remaining in the clash. UTEP jumped out to a 7-0 advantage with 11:33 remaining in the first quarter, as Vittatoe threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Landon Goodwell. Anderson then scored two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the first quarter, a 72-yard scamper and a one-yard plunge, to give his squad a 14-7 advantage. The Miners tied the score at 14-14 on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Vittatoe to Daniel Palmer with nine minutes remaining in the first half. Just two-and-a-half minutes later, Anderson scored his third touchdown of the game, as he hauled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Moore. At intermission, the Green Wave owned a 21-14 lead. The only points of the third quarter came on a 28-yard field by UTEP's Jose Martinez which cut the Miners' deficit to 21-17. Tulane lost the game despite rushing for 318 yards and committing zero turnovers.
