NCAA Game Summary - Idaho At Fresno State

Fresno, CA -- (Sports Network) - Tom Brandstater threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Fresno State Bulldogs to a 45-32 victory over the Idaho Vandals in Western Athletic Conference action. Lonyae Miller ran for 181 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries for Fresno State (4-2, 1-1 WAC). Nathan Enderle passed for 237 yards and three scores in the loss for Idaho (1-6, 0-3). Idaho broke a scoreless tie with 10:02 remaining in the first quarter, as Tino Amancio kicked a 29-yard field goal. Fresno State answered with a touchdown to take a 7-3 advantage, as Brandstater plunged into the end zone from one yard out. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 14-3 early in the second quarter when Seyi Ajirotutu recovered a fumble in the end zone. Idaho cut its deficit to 14-10 with 1:28 remaining in the second quarter, as Enderle threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Preston Davis. Fresno State was able to drive 65 yards in nine plays in a span of 1:06, and the Bulldogs scored a touchdown on a 15-yard pass from Brandstater to Ajirotutu with just 22 seconds remaining in the first half. At intermission, Fresno State owned a 21-10 advantage. The Bulldogs scored two straight touchdowns to open the third quarter, pushing their lead to 35-10. Ryan Matthews found the end zone on a 20-yard run, and Miller exploded for a 90-yard scamper. Idaho refused to go away, as Enderle threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Davis with just under five minutes remaining in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 35-17. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Brandstater pushed Fresno State's lead to 42-17 with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Vince Pascoe. Idaho made things interesting with back-to-back touchdowns in a span of less than three minutes. After Enderle tossed a 22-yard scoring strike to Lee Smith, Deonte' Jackson scored on a two-yard rush. With 7:48 remaining in the tilt, Fresno State owned a 42-32 advantage. Fortunately for the Bulldogs, their defense did not allow any more points, and Kevin Goessling brought the score to its final of 45-32 with a 46-yard field goal. Fresno State finished with 318 rushing yards and forced a pair of turnovers, two obvious keys to victory.
