POSTED: 12:03 am EST January 7, 2008

(Sports Network) - Paul Smith threw five touchdowns and added one on the ground as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane crushed the Bowling Green Falcons, 63-7, at the GMAC Bowl.

Smith finished the game 27-for-45 with 312 yards and added 46 yards on the ground for the Golden Hurricane (10-4), who closed out their season with six straight wins.

Tarrion Adams threw a touchdown, had 17 carries for 112 yards and a score and added four catches for 57 yards and a touchdown for Tulsa, which had lost five of its last seven bowl games coming into the contest.

Tyler Sheehan went just 14-for-19 with 141 yards while Roger Williams got the only score on a kickoff return for the Falcons (8-5), who had a four-game winning streak coming into the game.

After recovering a fumble deep in Bowling Green territory, Tulsa took a 7-0 lead on a one-yard touchdown run from Adams with under eight minutes to play in the first.

The Golden Hurricane recovered another Falcons fumble in Bowling Green territory and four plays later, Smith hooked up with Trae Johnson on a 13-yard score for a 14-0 lead with 5:36 left in the first.

Bowling Green didn't have a turnover on its next possession, but was held to a three-and-out and had to punt the ball away.

Tulsa was held near midfield and had to punt, but Antonio Smith fumbled on the punt and Tulsa recovered at the Bowling Green 19-yard line. On the next play, A.J. Whitmore took the ball into the end zone on a reverse for a 21-0 lead with 1:57 left in the first.

The Golden Hurricane continued to pour it on in the second quarter, and made it a 28-0 game on a four-yard touchdown pass from Adams to Kyle Grooms just 63 seconds in.

The Falcons finally established a drive on the next touch and had a 1st-and- goal at the Tulsa 6, but Anthony Turner fumbled the ball and Charles Davis recovered.

Tulsa quickly marched down the field, and an 11-play, 91-yard drive was capped on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Smith to Adams for a 35-0 advantage with 7:57 left before the half.

The Golden Hurricane started the second half with the ball and was able to pad its lead. Tulsa took the ball on a nine-play, 64-yard drive that was finished on a 14-yard pass from Smith to Johnson in the end zone for a 42-0 lead a bit over three minutes in.

Williams gave Bowling Green some life on the following kickoff as he broke several tackles on the way to a 78-yard touchdown run to make it a 42-7 game.

Smith, though, got the points back later in the third as his two-yard touchdown run gave the team a 49-7 lead with 4:40 left in the third.

Smith's three-yard pass to Charles Clay just 42 seconds into the fourth quarter made it a 56-7 contest.

A six-yard touchdown pass from Smith to Whitmore with 3:22 to play capped the scoring in the game.
