BGSU cut its deficit to 27-21 early in the final frame when Sheehan scampered into the end zone on a 19-yard run.

Less than two minutes later the Falcons used some trickery, as Turner threw a halfback pass to Jimmy Scheidler for a five-yard score, giving BGSU its first lead of the game at 28-27.

The Zips regained the lead midway through the fourth quarter when Jacquemain hit Merce Poindexter with a 13-yard touchdown pass.

However, the Falcons scored the final 10 points of the contest, as Sheehan connected with Partridge for a 21-yard touchdown pass, which was followed by a 44-yard field goal by Sinisa Vrvilo. With the late offensive run the Falcons were able to steal a four-point win on the road.
