NCAA Game Summary - Eastern Michigan At Temple

Philadelphia, PA -- (Sports Network) - Adam DiMichele threw for a career-high 370 yards and a school-record six touchdown passes, as he led the Temple Owls to a 55-52 victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a Mid-American Conference tussle at Lincoln Financial Field. DiMichele completed 21-of-37 pass attempts in the Temple (4-7, 3-5 MAC) win. Bruce Francis grabbed nine passes for 125 yards and also had a school- record four touchdown receptions. Andy Schmitt set EMU (2-9, 1-6) single-game records by completing 50-of-76 pass attempts for 484 yards, and he also threw three scores. Tyler Jones caught 17 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns in the losing effort. Jacory Stone grabbed 18 passes for 152 yards and a score for the Eagles. EMU struck first, as Schmitt found Jones with a 15-yard strike early in the opening frame. The Owls struck back late in the period, as Jake Brownell connected on a 34- yard field goal. The Eagles took a 14-3 lead early in the second quarter, following an eight- yard pass from Schmitt to Stone. DiMichele and Francis then hooked up on touchdown passes of three and 31 yards within minutes of each other to give the Owls a 17-14 advantage. Schmitt and Jones responded late in the period with an 11-yard connection. But the Owls would go into the break with a 24-21 lead, as DiMichele found Joe Jones for an eight-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of the half. A 35-yard Brownell field goal early in the third period extended the Temple advantage to 27-21. Joe Carithers pulled EMU to within three midway through the frame with a 25- yard kick. But DiMichele responded just minutes later with a four-yard toss to Francis to give the Owls a 34-24 lead. The frantic scoring pace continued in the fourth quarter. EMU found the end zone again early in the final period of play with a one-yard plunge by Schmitt. A 10-yard pass from DiMichele to Francis then gave the Owls a 41-31 lead with 12:39 to play. The Eagles responded minutes later with a two-yard Dwayne Priest scamper. A three-yard DiMichele run midway through the period gave the Owls a 48-38 lead. Priest found the end zone once more late in the frame following a two-yard run. DiMichele gave the Owls a 55-45 lead less than a minute after with a 45-yard scoring strike to Jason Harper. The Eagles added a two-yard run from Schmitt in the final minute to account for the final score of the contest. When all was said and done, the two teams combined for 989 yards of total offense.
