Kent, OH -- (Sports Network) - Brandon Thermilus' one-yard touchdown run in overtime allowed Buffalo to pull out a 30-23 victory over the Kent State Golden Flashes in Mid-American Conference action at Dix Stadium.

The Bulls' (5-7, 5-3 MAC) Drew Willy made up for an absent running game with a terrific day through the air. Willy threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns, while hitting on 34-of-44 passes. Ernest Jackson was the recipient of nine passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. The running game was non-existent, as it managed just 49 yards on 26 attempts on the day.

Kent State (3-9, 1-7) could not halt its six-game losing streak despite 251 total yards from Eugene Jarvis. Jarvis was a beast on the ground, running for 183 yards on 34 carries. He also brought in three passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Magazu threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns on 12-of-22 pass attempts. His leading threat in the passing game was Tom Sitko, who hauled in five balls for 61 yards and a touchdown.

A.J. Principe put a 23-yarder through the uprights to give Buffalo an early 3-0 lead three minutes into the game.

Andre Flowers responded for the Golden Flashes with a two-yard touchdown plunge just a minute later.

Still in the first frame, Magazu hooked up with Jarvis for a 24-yard touchdown, but the missed extra point gave KSU a 13-3 lead.

In the second quarter, Principe nailed a pair of field goals from 21 and 23 yards out, as Kent State led 13-9 at the break.

Buffalo opened the scoring in the second half with a Willy-to-Jackson 41-yard touchdown connection to put the Bulls up for the first time in the game.

Kent came back in the fourth quarter, starting with an 18-yard Sitko touchdown reception, followed by a Nate Reed 23-yard field to put KSU up 23-16.

The Bulls drove right down the field, orchestrating an 11-play, 73-yard drive capped off with Willy hitting Brett Hamlin for a four-yard touchdown with just under five minutes left.

With no more scores in regulation, the Bulls took the ball first in overtime, ending with Thermilus' dive over the goal line. The Golden Flashes could not respond, going four-and-out with their overtime possession.

Kent State's missed extra point on its second touchdown came back to haunt them, as the defense not hold off the late Bulls charge to secure its second MAC victory of the season.
