NCAA Game Summary - Boston College Vs. Kent State

Saturday, August 30, 2008

(Sports Network) - Quarterback Chris Crane scored two of the Eagles three touchdowns, as Boston College opened the new season with a 21-0 victory over the Kent State Golden Flashes at Browns Stadium.

Crane only threw for 106 yards for Boston College (1-0), but the signal caller also ran for 47 yards in the win. Jeff Smith added 74 rushing yards and one score for the Eagles, who finished the contest with a whopping 230 yards on the ground.

Julian Edelman did not have much success under center for KSU (0-1), as the signal caller threw for only 123 yards and was intercepted twice. Eugene Jarvis led the ground attack for the Flashes, but the tailback could only muster 51 yards in the loss.

The Eagles jumped out to a 7-0 lead with just over two minute remaining in the first quarter when Crane scampered into the end zone on a 10-yard run.

Boston College added another score late in the opening frame when Smith broke free and scored on a 42-yard run.

Defense took over in the second and third quarter, as neither team was able to post a single point during that span.

However, the Eagles did not waste much time finding the end zone in the final frame, as Crane plowed across the goal line on a six-yard run just seconds into the fourth quarter.

Boston College put forth a dominating performance on the defensive side of the football, holding the Golden Flashes to just 260 total yards and 12 first downs.
