NCAA Game Summary - Middle Tennessee At Arkansas State

Jonesboro, AR -- (Sports Network) - Corey Leonard threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Arkansas State Red Wolves to a 31-14 victory over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in Sun Belt Conference action at ASU Stadium. Leonard also led the ground attack for ASU (3-1, 1-0 SBC), rushing for 74 yards on 10 carries. As for MTU (1-3, 0-2), the team was paced by Joe Craddock who threw for 268 yards on 25-of-35 passing. Unfortunately Craddock also tossed an interception and was sacked twice. Late in the first quarter the Red Wolves took a 7-0 lead with a 17-yard touchdown pass for Leonard to Reggie Arnold. Midway through the second stanza Josh Arauco nailed a 35-yard field goal, pushing Arkansas State's lead to 10-0. With just seconds remaining in the first half Leonard hit David Johnson with a 14-yard touchdown pass, giving the Red Wolves a 17-0 lead as the two teams entered the break. Leonard and Johnson connected again midway through the third, as the two-yard touchdown pass extended Arkansas State's lead to 24-0. The Blue Raiders finally got on the scoreboard late in the third frame when Phillip Tanner rumbled into the end zone on a two-yard run. Early in the final quarter Derek Lawson scored on a 14-yard run, putting ASU back up by a 24-point margin. Middle Tennessee answered back on its next possession, as Dasher connected with Patrick Honeycutt on three-yard touchdown pass. However, it was much too late for the Blue Raiders, as ASU was able to hold on for the 31-14 win.
