NCAA Game Summary - Florida Atlantic At Middle Tennessee

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

(Sports Network) - Joe Craddock threw two touchdowns, including a 32-yard connection to Malcolm Beyah as time expired, and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders came back to stun Florida Atlantic, 14-13.

Craddock finished with 268 yards on 24-of-35 passing for Middle Tennessee (2-3, 1-2 Sun Belt), while Patrick Honeycutt had a game-high nine receptions for 113 yards and one score. Beyah had five catches for 90 yards.

Rusty Smith completed 16-of-27 passes for 210 yards with two interceptions for the Owls (1-4, 0-1). DiIvory Edgecomb amassed 101 yards on the ground and recorded FAU's lone touchdown.

Florida Atlantic limited the Blue Raiders to 55 yards rushing.

Trailing 10-0 in the fourth quarter, Middle Tennessee was facing a 4th-and-3 from the Owls' 25 and opted to forgo the field goal, and Craddock's 25-yard strike to Honeycutt put the Blue Raiders on the board with 5:22 to play.

The ensuing kickoff landed out of bounds, which gave FAU excellent field position. Smith and the Owls marched to the Blue Raiders' eight before they were forced to settle for a 25-yard field goal by Warley Leroy.

Middle Tennessee got the ball back with 1:15 remaining on the clock, needing to advance the ball 65 yards for the go-ahead score. On 3rd-and-6 from the 39, Craddock found Beyah for a 27-yard gain, but time was running out for the home team. The Blue Raiders had one last chance for the end zone on 4th-and-8. Craddock heaved the ball in the air and Beyah miraculously came down with the pigskin amongst a host of bodies for the touchdown. Alan Gendreau came on and kicked the extra point to complete the comeback.

The Owls led 7-0 after the opening quarter on Edgecomb's 53-yard TD run, and FAU went into halftime with a 10-point advantage after Leroy booted a 25-yard field goal.
