NCAA Game Summary - Eastern Kentucky At Richmond

Sunday, November 25, 2007

(Sports Network) - Tim Hightower ran for a Richmond postseason record 180 yards and a touchdown as Richmond beat Eastern Kentucky, 31-14, in the first round of the FCS playoffs.

The Spiders (10-2) forced four EKU turnovers and will take on Wofford next Saturday in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Eric Ward completed 13-of-18 passes for 139 yards with a touchdown for the Spiders, who also got 85 yards rushing and a score from Josh Vaughan.

Josh Greco connected on 12-of-23 passes for 206 yards with a TD and an interception for the Colonels (9-3), who gave up 417 yards to Richmond.

The Spiders bolted to a 17-0 lead in the first half after a 25-yard field goal from Andrew Howard, a two-yard scoring run by Hightower and a nine-yard run from Ward.

Bobby Washington's two-yard run with 43 seconds left in the half cut into the EKU deficit, but Vaughan scored on a 40-yard rumble late in the third before Greco threw a TD pass to Quinton Williams on the first play of the fourth.

However, Ward connected with Kevin Grayson for a six-yard score with 11:13 left.
