NCAA Game Summary - Stanford At Washington State

Pullman, WA -- (Sports Network) - Alex Brink threw for 449 yards and a score to lead the Stanford Cardinal to a 33-17 victory over the Washington State Cougars in a Pac-10 tilt from Martin Stadium. Brink completed 32-of-47 attempts in the Washington State' (4-6, 2-6 Pac-10) victory, and Christopher Ivory ran for 104 yards on just 15 carries. Brandon Gibson and Jed Collins were Brink's main targets, as the duo amassed 153 and 123 yards through the air, respectively. Tyrone McGraw rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown to lead Stanford (3-7, 2-6), and Mark Bradford grabbed 12 passes for 141 yards. Quarterback Tavita Pritchard completed 22-of-40 throws for 263 yards and two interceptions in the loss. Washington State struck first, late in the first quarter, with a 40-yard field goal by Romeen Abdollmohammadi. The Cougars found the end zone early in the second quarter, as Brink connected with a 12-yard strike to Ben Woodard, and WSU went into halftime with a 10-0 lead. Abdollmohammadi added three more points to the Cougar advantage early in the third quarter with a 23-yard kick. Stanford finally got on the board midway through the frame, as McGraw scored on a four-yard run. The Cardinal added a 24-yard field goal from Derek Belch less than a minute later, and Stanford trailed, 13-10. The Cougars responded almost immediately, going 71 yards on five plays in under two minutes, capping the drive with a 13-yard touchdown scamper by Kevin McCall. A four-yard plunge by Jeremy Stewart late in the period pulled Stanford to within three. Washington State extended its lead early in the fourth quarter with a 32-yard Abdollmohammadi field goal that gave the Cougars a 23-17 advantage. Abdollmohammadi connected on his fourth field goal of the night late in the fourth quarter, a 31-yard kick that gave Washington State a 26-17 edge. Washington State struck again less than a minute later, as Husain Abdullah intercepted Pritchard and returned the ball 55 yards for a touchdown. Brink's touchdown pass in the second quarter was the 71st of his career, breaking the previous school record of 70.
